Baby-safe waters (infant formula)
91 still waters inside the German infant-formula limits. Sodium under 20, nitrate under 10, sulfate under 240 mg/L.
Germany has the strictest public rule for this. A bottle sold there may only print "suitable for the preparation of infant food" if the water stays under 20 mg/L sodium, 10 mg/L nitrate and 240 mg/L sulfate, with extra caps on traces like fluoride, manganese, arsenic and uranium. The rule exists because a newborn kidney concentrates only a fraction of what an adult one manages. Salt is real work for it, and in the first months nitrate can crowd oxygen out of the blood. Both matter at levels you would never notice in your own glass.
Every water below is still and stays inside all three limits in its own published analysis, ranked by sodium, lowest first. We can only vouch for what gets published, though. The trace panel rarely makes it onto a label, so a printed infant-suitability line on the bottle is a stronger claim than a spot on this list. It cuts the other way too. A fair number of low-sodium waters never publish a nitrate figure, and rather than guess we leave them off.
Whatever bottle you pick, the preparation advice still stands. Neither bottled water nor formula powder is sterile, so the NHS and the CDC both want formula water boiled and cooled before mixing. Past choosing a gentle water, ask your pediatrician, not a water site.
